Rachel Carson "A Fable for Tomorrow"
In her short essay “A Fable for Tomorrow”, Rachel Carson talks about the reality of everyday people causing the destruction of the environment in their communities. I was appalled at learning that certain disasters have happened because of mankind. It just makes me wonder why we destroy such beautiful gifts given to us. Our environment is very important. Things throughout nature contribute to how we live throughout every day life. I thought the idea of making up a town that was almost perfect in every aspect of being was wonderful. I caught myself wanting to escape to that imaginary place. I couldn’t even begin to describe how perfect that would be if there was such a place like the one Carson described in her essay. Even though there isn’t a town that has all those wonderful qualities, it still is important to protect our environment. Every day people destroy the environment by polluting the air we breathe, trashing the ground with which we walk on, and killing the plants and animals we use to eat. Besides the important parts of what use of the environment we humans must use, there is also the beauty part of the environment. There is so much beauty out there. From every flower that blooms, to every spring that has water, it plays a very important role on the environment. I know that when I see a beautiful day outside and flowers are blooming, that I can’t help but feel so happy. I love the gifts of nature given to us. Rachel Carson made an amazing point. Everyday people help participate in the disasters that take place. We need to stop contributing to the problem and take what we have and enjoy it. I really enjoyed reading this essay. It has made on impact on the way I treat my environment.
